Our House It's an awesome feeling... a little scary but makes us proud. We bought in an older neighborhood where the houses are small but the lots are big! You can see in the next 3 pictures what a couple of the other homes look like. The one with the fence was recently done by a Government Grant in a Neighborhood Beautification Program and that neighbor said he'd give me the paperwork to get the same thing done to ours! They got all their siding and the white picket fence done with the grant! Most of these houses are 50 years old and have old asbestos shingles like ours. It'll be good to upgrade as soon as possible. Take notice of the tree in the middle picture... It's a Pecan tree in our front yard! And there's tons of pecans! You'll notice the house looks like its one story but it has a dormer built onto the back of the house for its second story! And unlike most new homes today that shove a staircase into
the foyer of the house, this staircase is sort of inconspicuous, leaving lots of
alternatives for arranging furniture. See the vacuum cleaner in the picture
above? Well the picture below shows it from another angle off the staircase,
which allows you to see where we'll put our couch on that far wall at the other
end... where those colorful animals are. (Those are going up to Miss Marley's
room after it's painted.) The second picture is the same room after I hung
another mirror (which the couch will go under) and when the sun is going
down. That crazy Charley Cat! Next, if you come in through the front door and walk straight ahead, you pass through the living area and straight into the kitchen where Michelle and Miss Marley and Jamie are likely to be found raiding the frig! The kitchen, although small, is so bright because it has lots of windows! One by the frig, one by the dishwasher (behind Jamie) and one in the back door! Plus, it's painted white with a light linoleum floor so it's very cheerful. First thing we did was add a mirror over the sink so the dishwasher (tha'd be me...) isn't staring aimlessly at a wall and it also increases the lightness to the room. And there's lots of cabinet space too... for such a small kitchen... Continuing outside the back door... We're thrilled to have such a big beautiful back porch and yard that's totally surrounded by a wooden privacy fence. There's lots of room to play back here and put up a swing set for some special little princess and her Garden Fairy. We even have a big detached garage where I can make my glass studio!
First thing I had to do was paint that door that got egged a long time ago... There! Much Better! And while I'm at it... I'm goin after that green algae on the house too! Back inside the house and still on the first floor are two rooms, one of which will be my office... That gallon of red paint went a long way on this house! And it dressed up my office nicely. You can see out into the living room from my office door. And next to it on either side is a bathroom (no pix for some reason) and another bedroom. The second room on the first floor will be our guest room. Michelle wanted a pale lavender for this wall which was plain white and it really turned out great! She's good at painting and careful to wear her face mask when she works. Next we'll go upstairs. The picture below is looking down from the top... duhhh. The first thing you see when climbing the stairs is another bathroom which is between two bedrooms. It was clean but bland. So Michelle purchased a few pretty accessories and she showed me how to sponge a border around the middle of the wall and VOILA! Nice transformation, eh? Now if you look to the East, you'll walk into our room. It's kind of a funny shape and doesn't leave much room to maneuver... but I have no doubt Michelle will make it wonderful... We'll just have to hire Munchkins to hang up our clothes! The last room is Miss Marley's. That's where our washer and dryer are too! That kid will be able to sleep through ANYTHING after being raised with the laundry runnin! Now you'll want to see how Michelle and company painted Miss Marley's room! Click Here to see an amazing nursery in progress! And thanks for stopping in... Come back soon...Ya hear? |
