Hey Everyone... Look at me! I'm standing! And I know something you don't... Can you guess what it is? We are sooo happy! Hurraaaayyyy! More Family! Can you guess what I was eating? Mommy had to throw me in the pool to clean me up after THAT meal! More to come... Stay tuned.
It's ME again! We just got back home from a loooooooooooooong road trip.
And as soon as Mommy and Daddy get out of the Jacuzzi and turn on the computer for me,
I'll put the rest of the pictures from our vacation on this site.
And now you'll find out how I got my personality... Daddy Calls me Pooter... We visited our friends Nate and
Scarlett in Ohio (Stay tuned... More pictures soon to come!) |

Michelle's maternal Grandpa passed away on July 9th after a
long illness.
We send our love and condolences to Helen and her siblings over their
loss,
as well as all the grandkids, great grandkids, extended family members and
friends
who will miss Grandpa Book.
We paid a visit to their home in Grandpa's "hills"
in Kenna, West Virginia recently.
Grandpa and Grandma Justine and Marley had a good time rollin around on the floor.
I found Grandpa out in his garden one morning.
Uncle Brian was there too from Taylor, MI.
He likes to ride the 4-wheelers!
We got to ride the 4-wheelers too...
While we were driving by the cemetery, we saw a poor little baby hound...
all alone and obviously "dumped".
We couldn't leave him...
so we took him home to Kya who adopted him instantly.
Her new brother's name is "Blue"... a good old fashioned hound-dog name.
At Blue's first visit to the Vet, he weighed in at a meager 5.3lbs.
Exactly one month later, Blue weighed in at 17.1lbs!
Here all this time we thought he was a dog...
turns out ole Blue was a pig!
Hey! Who's that skinny woman out by Grandpa Book's Garden?
Is that Marley's Grandma Helen?!
WOW!
She looks WONDERFUL!
Hi Everyone! How's Your Summer?
(June 29th)
And Congratulations on your exit from the Navy!
We're so proud of the years of service you willingly gave to our country and
We Thank You!
Stay tuned to find out what Michelle does next!
Hey! Happy Fourth!

Hope you have a wonderful celebration!
Still, the big news of the day is that Michelle is NOT going to re-enlist when her time in the Navy is up June 20th, 2004.
But she is going to continue her education while I serve out the next year. And I'm testing at the local college to see what kind of credits I've already accrued from my service years towards a degree. Will keep you posted on that.
We're trying to make plans to visit everyone this summer so stay tuned for more details on that via personal emails.
And before you know it, the Fourth of July will be here too!

One of our favorite holidays!
We spent a sunny afternoon at the May fair recently and had a lot of fun!
There was live music so we made the most of it...
Michelle found the funnel cakes
And I got in line to try that crazy bouncing gadget while my little Fair-ee fed me...
Soon I was getting all buckled up... woo hoo!
What a trip!
Hey that's Marley's Grammy shootin the breeze with
Michelle!
Grammy Honey came up from Florida for a visit.
The next day... the house was to be re-carpeted.
In order to save a few bucks, we tore out the old carpet ourselves and moved all the furniture so the carpet installers just had to come in and lay the padding and carpet. Here's the pictorial:
We just tried to stay out of their way when they were laying carpet and it was a beautiful day outside... so I decided to work on a couple of projects:
Michelle was a huge help!
As were some of our friends who stopped by...
Michelle and Grammy picked up Marley from our sitter's home...
We're really lucky to have Pam taking care of Marley when we work... she's
great!
The carpet installers were there all day and by late
afternoon,
I still had one more project to finish... in the back yard.
We have this great old tree just perfect for a couple of
swings...
I started the project but was soon replaced by another primate.
While all this was going on, Marley was in dyer need of a
bath.
And since Michelle was tied up...
Ohhhhh! That was FUN Daddy!
Can we do it again?
Finally, we got a line up on the tree limbs, drilled some holes in a piece of wood...
and voila!
We used an old tire for the second swing... Kya liked it a lot!
Marley checked out for a little nap sandwich after her swim...
It's a nice way to spend the afternoon.
We were all tuckered out by the end of that day. Still had to move the furniture back in from the front yard and out of the kitchen where we stashed a bunch of stuff for the day.
But our new carpet sure was nice.
We were tuckered out.
Grammy got lots of giggles and smooches while she visited.
My little princess needed some tootsie touchup...
Our cat Charley seemed unimpressed that I give pedicures...
Next day we had to go to work.
Marley, did you know your mama wears army boots?
Next day, we put our new stroller together and took a little spin.
Then home again for reading time...
a little exercise...
and the comedy hour!
We've got a happy life.
OH... here's some earlier pictures you may not have seen.
And these are some of Grammy's favorites:
That's our buddy Chris and one of Marley's favorite people.
Finally getting these cutie pictures in of Marley and her grandmothers. She looks sooo much like Helen!
Good Genes!
Looks like Marley goes to the same Beautician as Grandma Edie!
It's Spring!
Wow! Miss Hollywood!
Thumb Love

Don't forget that Mother's Day is coming
soon!
It will be Michelle's first official Mother's Day...
It's hard for all of us when I have to go out to sea and leave Michelle and Marley at home...
But then they surprise me with great
email
telling me all the fun things they do together while I'm gone...
Like the wonderful time they spent out on the beach...
And Michelle took Marley to get her little ears pierced!
Aunt Anita from Los Angeles made this fantastic animal quilt for Marley.
"Life seems real busy since we had the baby!"
But we're doing well and having fun...even if we don't get to sleep like we used to! (April 2004)

Michelle got a Silver, 4 wheel drive, 2000 Nissan Xterra w/50k miles for a super good deal! She's relieved not to have to worry about her old 95 Blazer kickin over the 100, 000 mile mark and loves the new Xterra!

Babe's back in school taking college computer courses in unix based operating systems... cool stuff.
Michelle picked up Diogi, the new cat, from the vet. He'd been there for neutering but then got a respiratory infection so he couldn't come home till that cleared up. He's still a little groggy from meds but seems to get into the chase when Kya (the new puppy) tears after him around the house biting his tail and tumbling all over. They're the same color... pictures coming soon. Charley, our original cat... isn't sure about all the commotion just yet. But she'll be fine and will soon enjoy her new playmates.
Babe went back up to the mountains with buddies Bruce and Patrick who just left today to go back home to Florida. No broken bones on the slopes this time. But Patrick might be a little sore for awhile when he gets back home...
Helen & Edie will be here on the 31st!!!!! Yeaaaaaa!!!
We got a 6 week old puppy!
She's half Akita and half Golden Retriever... What a beauty she's gonna be!
Our big fenced back yard is just perfect for her and now Charley and Diogi will have a playmate too! Our family is growing really fast!
Her name is Kya Bell!
And she likes the taste of applesauce but it causes major messes a little while later!
(At this point... our new cat, Diogi, is still at the kennel with an upper respiratory infection!:(
Michelle's boss said she can start working half days now!
Due date is February 7th and Miss Marley weighs 5lbs now!

Babe had an accident snowboarding last night
(January 1, 2004!) and ends up in the hospital!
He said,
"I'd been skiing all day and was taking the last jump before going home...
I was about 5 feet in the air when I lost my balance and started to come down
all wrong. I braced my fall with my left hand and got it caught between the
board and the ground when I heard it SNAP!

I had to get back up and ski down the hill and realized how bad it really was
when I couldn't lift my snowboard on top of the car. Some guys were
standing close by and I asked for help, explaining what happened. They
convinced me to go to the Ski Patrol to have them take a look before I left. The
Ski Patrol EMT's said it looked dislocated and broken. They put a splint on it and I
spent the next 2 hours driving back in misery over every pimple in the road that
felt like jolts of lightening shooting through my wrist.

Michelle took me straight to the Emergency Room after I got home but she had
Duty and had to leave me for treatment. It was the first time she'd had to pull
all-night Duty... but treatment was going to linger till the morning hours for me
anyway so it all worked out.
The staff in Emergency was really good to me but the treatment was
excruciating!
They were giving me Morphine about every hour but it only
seemed to dull my cares... not the pain!
They x-rayed the injury to confirm their suspicions and found it was dislocated and
broken!

Then they had me put my fingers in some sort of Chinese thumb-locks that were
weighted for traction in order to slowly pull my hand bone back into my wrist
socket. But it didn't work. And after some time of agony, the doctor
came in and wrestled my hand back into its socket by sheer force.

I
hollered so loud that at one point the nurse hushed me up because there were
kids near by and I was scaring them! But I've never felt anything hurt so bad as
that dislocated broken bone. After that, he put a cast on my arm all the
way up to my elbow. I asked him how long I was gonna be in the cast and he
said that depended... may be 4 weeks... may be 2 months or more!
With that, he put my cast arm in a sling and gave me a phone to call
Michelle. It was time for her to get off so she came back to pick me up...
Picture my 8 months pregnant wife pushing me down the corridors in a wheelchair
out to our car and helping me hobble in so she could drive us home. I
spent most of the day sleeping on the prescription pain killers and Nurse
Michelle has been taking good care of me ever since."
